Frequently Asked
Questions
How do I send a message to another player in a
game?
Hit Alt and Y and the same time. Type your
message then hit enter.
How do I come back to life when my character
dies?
Hit the Spacebar.
How do I boot someone in a game?
You can only boot someone in a game if you are
the host. While in the game hit the Alt and the Y keys at the same time (as you would to
send a message to another player) and type BOOT:player name. Type their
name exactly as you see it in the game. Do not boot a player unless it is for very good
reason. Low latency is not an excuse as this should be work prior to starting the game.
Only boot if a player is using language which is unexceptable to other players or if they
refuse to follow the rules set up at the start of the game such as Marshal Law.
How do I join an IP game?
Write down the IP address of the player who has
started up the IP game. Click on the Outlaws icon on your computer. When the Outlaws
selection menu comes up click on Run Outlaws. Select Multiplayer. The next screen
(Multiplayer Screen) select windows sockets on the left side of the
screen (The TCP/IP INTERNET/LAN) selection will automatically highlight on the right side.
Click on Join Game in the bottom right corner of the screen. On next screen (configuring
winsock screen) type in the IP address of the game you wish to join as supplied by the
player who announced it then click on Accept. The menu will change again
and you must click on Get Info and then Join Game.
How do I host an IP game?
Click on the Outlaws icon on your computer. When
the Outlaws selection menu comes up click on Run Outlaws. Select
Multiplayer. On the next screen (Multiplayer Screen) select Windows Sockets
on the left side of the screen The TCP/IP INTERNET/LAN selection will automatically
highlight on the right side. Click on Host Game in the bottom right
corner of the screen. On next screen (The Multiplayer Start Screen) select the level that
you wish to play. Change the Game Name field if you wish, then select StartGame
in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. From the next screen (The Multiplayer
Options Screen) make your various selections. Recommended selections are End After
A Number Of Kills, my personal preference is 100. Only select a timed or
friendly fire game if you warn people first. Also NEVER EVER allow cheats unless all
players have agreed to it prior to setting up the game. You will find very few people that
want to join you in a cheating game and they will know because your charater will flash
yellowish/red and the message You Are Cheating will display for all to see. Don't set
password unless you're a geek. Now click on Accept. The game will load and will be ready
for players to join. Hold down the Alt and Tab keys at the same time to go back to zone
and announce the IP number of your game. You will see the IP number of your game in the
upper left corner of your game screen.
Who are those people with + signs next to
their name?
They are the Microsoft Gaming
Zones, System Operators also known as Sysops. They are in the zone to control conduct of
the players. They have the ability to gag your chat options and boot you so you better pay
attention to them.
